Miele{home
Optional accessory The Miele|home system enables you to check information about your wine storage unit at any time. For example, if a temperature alarm, power cut or other fault message occurs, this information will be relayed directly to the Miele|home system. the Miele|home InfoControl) and your appliance must be fitted with Communication module (XKM 2000 KF) to benefit from this feature. Storing wine bottles
Wooden shelves
Any vibration or movement of the bottle can affect the wine by interrupting the natural respiration process and so impair the taste. As far as possible, store bottles of the same type of wine beside each other on the same shelf. Removing a bottle of one type will then leave the other types undisturbed and will avoid the need to move different bottles around. The wooden shelves are removable and height-adjustable and can be arranged to suit your individual requirements.
Descriptive labels
Use the labels supplied to identify your wine quickly and easily. Additional labels can be purchased from your Miele Dealer or the Miele Spare Parts Department.
Maximum capacity
The following data was obtained using standard Bordeaux wine bottles (0. 75 l) and the number of shelves supplied with the appliance. KWL 4712 S ed: up to 162 bottles KWL 4912 S ed: up to 187 bottles
Door lock
You can lock the door of the wine storage unit to prevent it being opened without your knowledge. To unlock the appliance, carry out the procedure in the reverse order but turn the key in the opposite direction.

Alarm
Your appliance is fitted with a warning system which ensures that the temperature cannot rise or fall unnoticed and impair the wine.
Activating the alarm system
The alarm system is always active. It does not have to be switched on manually.
Temperature alarm
The alarm will sound if the temperature in the appliance rises approx. The alarm will sound and the temperature display will flash: when you switch the appliance on, and for as long as the temperature differs as described above from the temperature set. if the door has been left open for a while in order to re-arrange or take wine bottles out and warm air has entered the appliance. if a large number of wine bottles are put into the storage unit at once. if there has been a lengthy interruption to the power supply.
Switching the alarm off early
Once the set temperature has been reached in the appliance, the alarm stops and the temperature display lights up constantly. However, if the noise disturbs you, you can switch the alarm off before this if you wish.
^ Press the Alarm off button. The temperature display will continue to flash until the set temperature has been reached or the door has been shut again. The display then lights up constantly.
Door alarm
The alarm will sound if the door is left open for more than approx. 3 minutes.

Defrosting
Condensate and frost can build up on the back wall of the appliance whilst it is in use. The condensate is drained away via a channel and drain hole into an evaporation system at the back of the appliance. Ensure that the condensate channel and drain hole are never blocked so that condensate can flow away without hindrance.

Cleaning and care
Before cleaning
Never use cleaning agents containing abrasive substances such as sand, soda, acids or chemical solvents. "Non-abrasive" cleaning agents are also unsuitable as they can cause matt areas to appear. Stainless steel surfaces can be treated using a conditioning agent for stainless steel such as Neoblank (available for the Miele UK Spare Parts Department).
