Insert the included 9V battery into the battery holder with the leads facing out. [. . . ] Operating the Electronic Imaging Eyepiece For simplest operation, aim and focus the telescope at the object you wish to view using a regular telescope eyepiece. Take the dust cap off of the electronic imaging eyepiece and insert the barrel of the eyepiece into the telescope's focuser or diagonal. If you wish to use the electronic eyepiece with telescopes that require . 965" eyepieces, unthread the 1. 25" barrel (Figure 1) and use the . 965" barrel underneath. Press the ON/OFF button on the electronic video eyepiece and the green LED light should shine. Focus the image on the TV by using the telescope's focusing mechanism. Using the Contrast Switch The electronic imaging eyepiece has a four-position contrast adjustment switch. The contrast is increased as you move the switch (Figure 1) to the right. Experiment with various positions of the contrast switch to find the best image. Using the Manual White Balance Without white balancing, colors may appear to be different on the video screen than they are in real life. To solve this problem, use the following procedure to obtain proper white balance. For astronomical viewing, you will not typically need to use the manual white balance since most astronomical objects show little, if any, color. Point the telescope with the imaging eyepiece inserted at a white wall or other white surface. Then press the manual white balance button (MWB) to set the balance level. You will not need to adjust the white balance again unless the amount of light in the area changes or you move the telescope and eyepiece to a new location. Once balanced, the color should now appear closer to the real colors of the object being viewed.
