For safe and correct use, be sure to read the Safety Information in "About This Machine" before using the machine. Introduction This manual contains detailed instructions and notes on the operation and use of this machine. For your safety and benefit, read this manual carefully before using the machine. Important Contents of this manual are subject to change without prior notice. [. . . ] Pressing and holding down [n] or [o] changes it in increments of 10%. F Press [Vertical]. I Place your originals, and then press the {Start} key. Note If you have incorrectly entered the ratio in steps E or G, readjust it with [n] or [o]. 70 Copier Functions Directional Size Magnification (mm) Specify the horizontal and vertical lengths of the original and copy image. Copies can be reduced or enlarged at different reproduction ratios horizontally and vertically. 2 CP2M01EE A Horizontal original size: Amm B Vertical original size: Bmm C Horizontal copy size: amm D Vertical copy size: bmm Measure and specify the lengths of the original and copy by comparing "A" with "a" and "B" with "b". A Press [Reduce / Enlarge]. B Press [Dir. C Enter the horizontal size of the original with the number keys, and then press {q} key. {q} key. D Enter the horizontal size of the copy with the number keys, and then press E Enter the vertical size of the original with the number keys, and then press 71 Copying F Enter the vertical size of the copy with the number keys, and then press {q} key. Sort The machine assembles copies as sets in sequential order. Important To use the Rotate Sort function, two paper trays loaded with same size and type paper, but in different orientation (KL), are required. See "Paper Type: Tray 1-4", General Settings Guide. You cannot use the bypass tray with Rotate Sort. Sort Copies are assembled as sets in sequential order. Rotate Sort Every other copy set is rotated by 90 degrees (KL) and delivered to the copy tray. 72 Copier Functions A Press [Finishing]. B Select [Sort] or [Rotate Sort], and then press [OK]. When a finisher is not installed: 2 When the 500-sheet finisher is installed: When the 1000-sheet finisher is installed: When the booklet finisher is installed: 73 Copying C Enter the number of copy sets using the number keys. D Place your originals. When placing an original on the exposure glass, start with the first page to be copied. When placing an original in the ADF, set so the first page is on the top. When placing an original on the exposure glass or in the ADF using Batch mode, press the {q} key after all the originals have been scanned. 2 E Press the {Start} key. See "Memory Full Auto Scan Restart", "Rotate Sort: Auto Paper Continue", "Auto Tray Switching", General Settings Guide. Note To confirm the type of finishing, press the {Sample Copy} key in step D. Sample copy Use this function to check the copy settings before making a long copy run. Important This function can be used only when the Sort function is turned on. A Select Sort and any other necessary functions, and then place the originals. B Press the {Sample Copy} key. One copy set is delivered as a sample. AMG040S C If the sample is acceptable, press [Continue]. The number of copies made is the number specified, minus one for the proof copy. Note If you press [Suspend] after checking the results, return to step A to adjust the copy settings as necessary. You can change the settings for Staple, Duplex (1 sided 1 sided, 1 sided 2 sided), Copy Orientation, Margin Adjust. , and Cover/Slip Sheet. However, depending on the combination of functions, you may not be able to change some settings. 74 Copier Functions Changing the Number of Sets You can change the number of copy sets during copying. Important This function can only be used when the Sort function is turned on. A While "Copying. . . " is displayed, press the {Clear/Stop} key. B Press [Change Quantity]. 2 C Enter the number of copy sets with the number keys, and then press the {q} key. D Press [Continue]. Copying starts again. Note The number of sets you can enter in step C differs depending on when the {Clear/Stop} key is pressed. 75 Copying Stack Copies can be assembled with each page placed. 2 If a finisher is installed, each time the copies of one page are delivered, the next copy is shifted when delivered so you can separate each job by page. Important You cannot use the bypass tray with this function. 333 A Press [Stack]. B Enter the number of copies with the number keys. C Place your originals, and then press the {Start} key. Note When placing an original on the exposure glass, start with the first page to be copied. When placing an original in the ADF, set so the last page is on the bottom. 76 Copier Functions Staple Each copy set can be stapled together. 2 Important You cannot use the bypass tray with this function. Stapling position and original setting Place all the originals in the ADF in the orientation in which they can be read normally. When placing the original on the exposure glass, keep the same orientation, but set the original facing downwards. When there is copy paper that is identical in size and orientation to your original, the staple positions are as follows: 500-sheet finisher AMG018S 77 Copying 1000-sheet finisher 2 AMG020S Booklet finisher AMG019S This table shows the stapling positions, not the orientation of delivery. Left 2K and Top 2L are not available for larger than A4 size paper. A Press [Finishing]. 78 Copier Functions B Select one of the stapling positions. 500-sheet finisher 2 1000-sheet finisher Booklet finisher When you select a stapling position, Sort mode is automatically selected. C Enter the number of copy sets using the number keys. D Place your originals, and then press the {Start} key. Note When placing an original on the exposure glass, start with the first page to be copied. When placing an original in the ADF, set so that the last page is on the bottom. When placing an original on the exposure glass or in the ADF using Batch mode, press the {q} key after all the originals have been scanned. [. . . ] This reproduction ratio depends on copy paper sizes and the number of originals. If the machine is equipped with a Copy Data Security Unit, the range is from 50 to 400%. · If the calculated ratio is under the minimum ratio, it is automatically adjusted to within available range. · If the orientation of originals is different from that of the copy paper, the machine will automatically rotate the image by 90° to make copies properly.
