[. . . ] It is dangerous to alter the specifications or modify this product in any way. Care must be taken to ensure that the appliance does not stand on the electrical supply cable. The domestic refrigerators and freezers are designed to be used specifically for the storage of edible foodstuffs only. Manufacturers' storage recommendations should be strictly adhered to. [. . . ] Directives: - 73/23 EEC of 19. 2. 73 (Low Voltage Directive) and subsequent modifications; - 89/336 EEC of 3. 5. 89 (Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive) and subsequent modifications. A B D245 Cleaning the interior Before using the appliance for the first time, wash the interior and all internal accessories with lukewarm water and some neutral soap so as to remove the typical smell of a brand-new product, then dry thoroughly. Do not use detergents which will leave an odour or abrasive powders on the interior, as these will damage the finish. 36 Door reversibility Before carrying out the operations described below, pull out the mains plug from the wall socket. To carry out door reversal operate as follows: Remove the plastic cover (6) (which has a clip-in fitting) masking the bottom hinge; Remove bottom hinge (1); Slide out the lower door from middle hinge (2) and remove the latter; Slide out the upper door from pin (3), unscrew the latter and then screw it down into the hinge provided on the opposite side; Refit the upper door and the middle hinge on the opposite side; Refit the lower door and bottom hinge (1) on the opposite side, after having removed the plugs (7) and screws; these must then be refitted in the holes on the opposite side; Refit the plastic cover (6) on the bottom hinge. The holes that are not used are to be masked with the plastic plugs removed. D074 3 5 2 4 1 7 6 37 OPERATION Refrigerator/Freezer - Starting-up and Temperature Regulation Insert the plug into the wall socket. Open the refrigerator door and turn the thermostat knob, to be found on the upper right side of the inner liner, clockwise, beyond the «O» position (STOP), to start the appliance. Temperature adjustment is obtained by turning the thermostat knob to the required setting. However, the thermostat knob setting should be adjusted depending on the temperature required inside the appliance. This, in turn, depends on a number of factors such as the ambient temperature, the number of times the door is opened, the quantity of food stored and the location of the appliance. Turn the knob clockwise, to higher numbers, to obtain a lower temperature, or anticlockwise if a higher temperature is required. Important: If the ambient temperature is high and the appliance is set to the lowest temperature, it may run continuously causing frost to form on the rear wall. In this case the dial must be set to a higher temperature to allow for automatic defrosting and consequently a saving in electricity consumption. In this position, fresh meat can be stored for 1-2 days at most. 1 2 3 D076 Further hints for getting the best out of your refrigerator are the following: Cooked food, cold dishes, jellies etc. , should be well covered. Raw meat (all types, including poultry) should be stored in plastic bags. Movable shelves The walls of the refrigerator are equipped with a series of runners so that the shelves can be positioned as desired. Storage of foods in refrigerator compartment To achieve the best results with the refrigerator compartment, you should follow some very simple rules: Do not put warm foods or evaporating liquids in the refrigerator; cover or wrap foods (particularly if they have a strong smell or contain aromatic herbs). in contact with the evaporator plate at the rear of the refrigerator compartment as this can lead to impairment of the operation of the refrigerator. In addition, food should be positioned inside the refrigerator compartment as indicated in the figure that is given below: 1. Fruit and vegetables. D351 Use and features of the «CRISP'N FRESH» filter The glass shelf on top of the vegetable drawer is fitted with a special filter called «CRISP'N FRESH» which ensures the correct amount of ventilation, and significantly D002 reduces the rate of food dehydration; vegetables therefore store better and keep longer. 38 Cleaning the filter The filter is held by two small support frames which press into position and are therefore easily removed for cleaning. To do this, turn the glass shelf upside down and release D003 the frames as shown in the illustration. [. . . ] If the light does not go on when the door is open, check that it is screwed into place properly. The rating is shown on the light bulb cover. External cleaning Wash the outer cabinet with warm soapy water. Once or twice a year dust the condenser (black grill) and compressor at the back of the appliance with a brush or vacuum cleaner. An accumulation of dust will affect the performance of the appliance and cause excessive electricity consumption. D025 CUSTOMER SERVICE What to do if the appliance is not functioning properly. If something is not working properly, check that: the plug is firmly in the wall socket and the mains power switch is on; there is an electricity supply (find out by plugging in another appliance); the thermostat knob is in the correct position.
